Allen Daniel "Dan" Burt



Allen Daniel Burt, age 93, passed away in a local care facility on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Kerrville, Texas. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky to loving parents, Harold A. Burt and Catherine E. Coulter. Dan served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1954. His primary passion in life was art. Dan painted in Texas, Louisiana, Mexico, Spain and Italy using transparent watercolors. His impressionistic style reflected his enthusiasm. With rich color and deep feeling he created paintings full of spirit. He won over one hundred awards in national, international, regional and state juried exhibitions. Dan was an elected signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Watercolor West, the Rocky Mountain National Water Media Society, Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists and the Texas Watercolor Society. He also earned membership in the Dolphin Fellowship of the American Watercolor Society. Dan was also the author of The North Light Book – You Can Paint Vibrant Watercolors.


A Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kerrville, Texas on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 2pm. The family request that memorials be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
