Kerrville Arthur L. Aldridge, Jr., 71, of Kerrville, passed from this life at his home on Wednesday afternoon, July 30, 2009.
quotArtquot was born in Oceanside, NY on January 3, 1938, the only child of Arthur L. Aldridge, Sr. and Alice M. Mitchell Aldridge. However, most of his adult life he lived and worked in San Francisco.
He attended the University of California at Berkeley, where he studied civil engineering and worked for the State of California designing highways for 33 years. He and his beloved wife, Ginny, met in French class at UC Berkeley. For years, they had season tickets for all the Oakland Raiders games where they cheered their team through winning and losing seasons. Besides enjoying football, Art loved to fish For 40 years, he and a group of buddies took annual fishing trips to Lake Shasta. There was always a lot of laughter and joking when Art was around.
After he and Ginny retired, they moved to the Texas Hill Country to be closer to their son, Mike, and their two grandchildren, Kevryn and Kyle. They were so busy, they wondered how they ever found time to work. Art took Mike and grandson Kyle, to many exotic places to fish, while he and Ginny took many wonderful cruises and trips, together and with their grandkids.
Here in Texas, Art became an avid researcher of Leukemia, his chronic illness. He studied and experienced both traditional and alternative therapies. He was always open to trying new methods of healing. He willingly shared his data and insight with others. He and Ginny led judiciously healthy lifestyles, eating organically, juicing and staying physically active. Also, not surprisingly, after coming to Texas, he became a spurs fanatic He would sit in the kitchen analyzing Pops latest strategies of Tim, Tony or Manus latest triumphs. He loved the Black and Silver. He was looking forward to the 2009 basketball season and hopefully, another championship.
Those who knew and loved him will miss Arts enthusiasm and generosity of spirit. He was his own man throughout his life and in his death.
