Carol Mauk Pitts passed away peacefully at her home on October 28, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born in Austin, Texas on May 2, 1936, she is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mauk, and her sister, Peggy Mauk Barnett.

After spending time in Austin, her family later moved to Houston where she attended Lamar High School. She also attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority, and received her degree in education. Carol and her husband, Paul Pitts, moved from Houston to Conroe, Texas in 1972 where she taught business courses at Conroe High School until her retirement in 1993.

Retirement was spent with her husband, Paul, in Ingram, Texas at their beloved Holiday Hill. They were members of the Hunt United Methodist Church. Carol was involved in numerous community activities; she loved playing bridge with her friends and was active in birthday babes. She excelled at sewing, quilting, rug hooking, and cooking. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family during holidays and many summer days swimming in the river.

Carol is survived by her husband, Paul Pitts; sons Doug Pitts (Joanna) of Oklahoma and David Pitts (Lyndi) of Fort Worth; grandchildren Lauren, Connor, Douglas, and Caroline; and four great grandchildren.
