Her professional journey began as a secretary for KTXS TV in Sweetwater, Texas, followed by her time with the Texas Bandmasters Association. In 1972, she married Pat Patterson, whose death in 1986 marked another significant loss in her life. Carolyn later found companionship once more and married Harold Bowman, who preceded her in death in 2005.

She is also survived by her sister Margaret Vickers of Richardson, TX, and her brother Bill Hollins of Coleman, TX. Her brother Dan Hollins and her late parents also precede her in death, leaving a legacy that Carolyn has upheld and celebrated through her family.
