Donald Kenneth Rothenflue, of Kerrville, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on August 1, at the age of 96, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 17, 1928, Don lived a life marked by devotion to his family, faith, and community.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Bettie Jean (Kott) Rothenflue, Don's life was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a beautiful life in Kerrville, filled with memories of family gatherings, shared joys, and mutual support. Don was a proud father to two daughters, Donna Edinburgh of Apple Springs and Patsy Helvey of San Antonio. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will remember him as a loving and supportive family patriarch. Joining in celebrating his life are his nephew, Jack Rothenflue of Kerrville and niece, M'lel Russell of San Antonio along with their spouses and families.
A man of deep faith, Don was an active member of his church and community, volunteering regularly at the Kerrville Chamber of Commerce in his later years. His love for tennis, card games, and dominoes was well-known, and he cherished the time spent engaging in these activities with family and friends. Don's most significant role was that of a consummate family man. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A proud U.S. Army veteran of 23 years, Don served his country with honor and distinction, embodying the values of patriotism and duty. His service took him across the globe, where he made lasting contributions to the nation he faithfully served.
Donald Kenneth Rothenflue's life was a shining example of love and faith. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and cherished family memories. His family and friends take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved Bettie, and they will forever hold him in their hearts.
