Evelyn Humphrey

Evelyn Mae Humphrey, 94, of Kerrville, passed from this life on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at a care facility in Kerrville, Texas. 

Evelyn was born in Keokuk, Iowa on April 17, 1930 to loving parents, Delta Devers and Maxwell Evans. She graduated from Carthage College with a bachelor degree of music in 1951. Later she met Ray Humphrey and they were married for 61 years. While living in Iowa, she taught music in small schools. Evelyn and Ray moved to Huntsville, Texas where they lived for 30 years while Ray worked as a professor teaching chemistry at SHSU and she taught piano to both children and adults. After retiring, Evelyn and her husband Ray moved to Kerrville where she lived for 33 years. She enjoyed traveling abroad, as well as camping in the US. Evelyn was a voracious reader and she was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville.  

Those who are left to cherish her memories are her three children, David Humphrey of Laingsburg, MI, Thomas Humphrey and wife Mary of Wimberly, TX and Lynn Ramert and husband Robert of Keller, TX; grandchildren, Kristen Hagen, Kerry Weinman, Adam Humphrey, Sarah Ramert, and Bryan Ramert; and one great-granddaughter, Penelope Ramert. 

A celebration of life will be at 1:00PM Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Kerrville Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Montoya officiating.
