Kerrville - Forest (Vern) Gibson Jr., 77, of Ingram, TX, died on Sunday, January 29, 2017 in Ingram. Forest was born on November 22, 1939 to Forest Vernon Gibson Sr. and Alice Irene (Hileman) Gibson in Miami, AZ.

Vern enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958 as an aviation mechanic. He served in the Navy for 21 years and his favorite duty was served on the USS America where he was in charge of all the aircrafts on deck. Vern retired from the United States Navy on the USS Kitty Hawk as a Chief Petty Officer, during his time in the service he received five good conduct medals. On April 29, 1978 he married the love of his life Joyce Lang in Imperial Beach, California. Vern owned and operated Vern's Auto Clinic in Rifle, Colorado before retiring to Ingram Oaks in 2001.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents, Forest Vernon Gibson Sr. and Alice Irene (Hileman) Gibson and brother, Daniel Gibson.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory are his loving wife; Joyce Lang Gibson of Ingram, TX; children, Audrey Couryner and husband Shonn of Vista, CA, Forest Craig Gibson of Summerset, TX, April Hill and husband Ken of Colorado Springs, CO; step children Jim Sienia and Bonnie of Wenatchee, WA, Tony Sienia and wife Roxanna of Pasco, WA, Annette Sienia and Bruce of Crossville, TN; sister Edna Leger and husband Gary of Gillette, WY; as well as 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In lieu of floral contributions, donations may be made to Peterson Hospice in Vern's name.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
