Frances Stafford

Frances (Fay) Vuskovich Stafford, 77, passed from this life peacefully in her home with her loving husband by her side in Kerrville, TX on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. She was born on June 22, 1940 in Gretna, LA to Matthew Vuskovich and Frances Cavaretta Vuskovich.

Family values were instilled in her at a young age. In the early 1970s her mother, Frances and brothers, Vincent and Joseph; opened a restaurant in Gretna, a suburb or New Orleans. The family became even closer working alongside her siblings and children. The love of family and her ability to make friends and customers feel like family permeated Fay's life. Food, family, and the Catholic faith remained central for Fay, her siblings and her children throughout her life with family dinners filled with laughter, music and fun.

These early experiences provided the foundation for Fay's later work in the hospitality industry. For over 35 years, she welcomed guests to hotels and restaurants in New Orleans and Florida. Her attention to detail accompanied by her smile, good humor, and genuine interest in people, made them friends.
In May of 1998 Fay and Paul were married in Gretna, LA. He introduced her to the Texas Hill Country and they moved to Kerrville in April of 2005. Fay immediately fell in love with the beautiful Hill Country and a community of wonderful friends. As a retiree after 46 years, she brought her skills of hospitality to countless hours of service as a volunteer for many Kerrville organizations including the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Notre Dame Church. She served as a member of the board of directors at River Hills Country Club, Kerrville Art Club, Kerr Arts & Cultural Center, the Republican Women of Kerr Country and the River Hills Women's Association. In each of these endeavors, she made enduring and fun-filled friendships.

Fay faced life's adversities with a deep faith, whether the challenges of raising two children as a single mother or dealing
with major health issues. Her special prayer during these times was, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She leaves this special faith and the values she modeled as an example for her family.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Vuskovich; grand-daughter, Marti Diane Wilson; and ex-husband Luther L. Hoell; father of her two children.

Frances is survived by her loving husband, Paul E. Stafford; sister, Jeri Vuskovich of Slidell, LA; brother, Matthew Vuskovich, M.D. (Lona) of Gainsville, FL.; brother, Joseph Vuskovich (Regina) of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Laura Wilson of Austin, TX; son, Kurt Hoell of Houston, TX; grandson, Donald Wilson, III.; and many loved nieces and nephews.
