Gregory Frederick Bertasz, 77, of Kerrville, TX passed from this life on March 14, 2023 in Kerrville, TX.

He was born in Springfield, MA on March 16, 1945 to parents Nikolai (Mike) Bertasz and Elizabeth McCleave.

Gregory grew up in Springfield and spent his summers in Brimfield, MA. He married Anne O’Neill in St. Thomas Church on August 13, 1966.  Greg loved building and remodeling homes.  He did this in Massachusetts and then in Texas.  Alvin, TX became home for the family in 1976.  A great place to work; he retired from Solutia after 25 years.  He lived, coached, worked, hunted and retired to the hill country.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nikolai and Elizabeth Bertasz; brother, Robert N Bertasz; infant son Mark Robert Bertasz; Paul Vaughn (son of the heart) The O’Neill family matriarch, Agnes O’Neill and sister-in-law Reverend Judith O’Neill.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 57 years Anne O’Neill Bertasz; son, Michael Gregory Bertasz and wife, Dallas; daughter, Patricia Anne Bertasz McKnight and husband, Dee McKnight; grandchildren, Dylan Michael Bertasz, Lily McKnight, Eleanor McKnight and Jameson McKnight, as well as many more Texas friends and family.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hill Country Youth Ranch or charity of one’s choice in Gregory’s name.

The family has requested no services at this time.

Greg passed from this earth this morning.

We who loved him will grieve for this good man.

He was always ready with tool chest in hand for repairs, building feeders and pens.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing or just a good visit.

Those of us blessed to have his love were as family.

He was a Good and Honorable man.

He has been a dear friend for many, many years.

He watched our children grow, marry, have beautiful children and grandchildren.

He never said no when he was asked to help.

He could be cantakerous with a smile and had the best hugs.

He fished, hunted, teased and played with all the children.

They will remember his fun laugh and love.

As we have all grown older, we face the hurdles of senior health together.

Greg’s was not without a few roadblocks and detours.

Anne and Greg have weathered the hard times with smiles still in place.

He is genuinely irreplaceable.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kerrville Funeral Home (830) 895-5111.
