Guytie May Rhodes Nolen of Coleman passed away on June 23, 2002 at Coleman Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Nolen was born May 2, 1909 in Walnut Springs, Texas as the third child of Robert Lee and Sally Rebecca Ownbey Rhodes. She was raised and attended public schools in Walnut Springs.On July 12, 1942 she married Bygie Nolen of Gorman Texas where they farmed peanuts for many years. In 1980 they retired and moved to Coleman, Texas to be near her late sister and brotherinlaw, the Rev. Perry and Mrs. LaVerne Lindley. Mrs. Nolen was a llifetime member of the United Pentecostal Church.Mrs. Nolen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bygie Nolen, three brothers and four sisters.She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frankie Seale Allen of Brownfield, Texas, and Mrs. Lorene Berry of Morris, Oklahoma two brothers, Billy K. Rhodes of Hico, Texas, and J. Deane Rhodes of Amarillo, Texas. Many nieces, nephews, and a host of church family and loving friends also survive her.Graveside services and interment will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at 1:00 pm at Kokomo, Texas in the Simpson Cemetery. Family visitaiton will be held at Steevens Funeral Home in Coleman, Texas from 67 PM on Monday, June 24, 2002. The Rev. Theron Chapman and Rev. Elroy Martin will officiate.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local Hospice, or your favorite charity.
