James Redden

James Jefferson Redden, known to all as ''Jim'' or ''Jimmy'', passed away at his home in Ingram, TX on August 25, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was a devoted husband, dedicated public and community servant and a proud and committed Christian.
Jim Redden was born in San Angelo, TX on December 30, 1941 to Jewel Thurman Redden and wife Gladys Elizabeth Nesbitt Redden. He graduated from Ft. Stockton High School in May 1960 and Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Business Administration in August 1965. Immediately after graduation he went to work for the Sherman Williams Company in Las Cruces, N.M. for one year and then, at his father's request, returned to work in the family business in Ft. Stockton for the next two years. In October of 1968, Jim went to work as an auditor for the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission in Austin, TX. Shortly thereafter, he moved to the Dallas district. In 1970, Jim met Darlene Mollard and they began their beautiful journey together. Due to his supervisor service Jim was ultimately promoted to supervisor of the new Odessa, TX district office in July of 1971. On August 5, 1971 James J. Redden and Darlene Mollard were married in Dallas, TX and moved to Odessa, TX to begin their life together.
Jim and Darlene enjoyed traveling in several RV's to New Mexico, Colorado and extensively through the Davis Mountains of Texas. They enjoyed riding dirt bikes in the Davis Mountains and Coudcroft, N.M., going where ever the trails took them, seeing the beauty that God created. They also had a place at Lake Brownwood and enjoyed boating and water skiing with friends. Jim also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his dear friend in the Hill Country of Texas and Big Bend. Jim was also an old car enthusiast and enjoyed traveling to, and viewing car shows with his best friend since childhood, Richard Berry.
After living in Odessa, TX for 27 years Jim retired in October of 1998 after working for TABC for 30 years. Jim and Darlene moved to Ingram, TX in February of 1999 from Odessa and both served the local Kerrville Community delivering Meals on Wheels together from October 1999 to 2018 shortly before Jim's passing. Jim was also an active volunteer at the Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) in Kerrville for several years.
Jim was very proud of the fact that both he and Darlene were baptized together in Turtle Creek by Pastor Frankie Enloe of Turtle Creek Community Church in 2003, that was the real turning point for Jim. He wanted to learn more about God and began to read and study the Bible extensively. Their journey lead them to Sonlight Chapel in Center Point, TX where Jim served as prayer leader each Sunday for seven years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Gladys Redden; brothers-in-law, Darwin Mollard, Vernon Johns and J.B. Jett; and niece, Monica Jett Pulliam.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Darlene of Ingram, TX; sisters, Loxi Bena and husband Donald of El Campo, TX and Patricia ''Pat'' Redden of San Angelo, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, Bryant Bena and wife Cindi of El Campo, TX; Traci Bena of El Campo, TX; Matthew Whitley and wife Andrea of Humble, TX; Kelly Dibbins and husband Kirk of Austin, TX; Drew Johns of the Dallas area, Thad Johns of Longview, TX; Tamara Johns of Salt Lake City, UT; Heather Johns Maloney and husband Ken of Boerne, TX; Tricia, Katrina and Terry Mollard; sisters-in-law, Billie Johns, Abigail Montes and Rita Mollard; great nieces and nephews, Allison Bena, Frankie Marie Maloney, Peter Maloney and Isaac and Drake Dibbens.
