Junadah Kathleen Admire, age 100, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully in her beloved home on July 23, 2025. She was born on May 23, 1925, in Gardner, Kansas, to Floyd and Zula Mae Sawyer.
Junadah was raised in the countryside of southwest Kansas as the eldest of five siblings. From an early age, she embraced responsibility, helping to raise her younger siblings and working alongside her family on their farm.
At just 16 years old, she met the love of her life, Coral Willard Admire, during a neighborhood game of hide-and-seek called "Chalk the Curb." Paired as teammates and strangers, their instant connection sparked a lifelong love story that led to a devoted 74-year marriage. After graduating high school, Junadah accepted Coral’s proposal and maintained a two-year, long-distance engagement while he served overseas in France as an Army Medic during World War II. During that time, Junadah taught in a one-room schoolhouse, instructing students from 1st through 12th grade. Upon Coral’s return, they married on March 27, 1946.
Junadah’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family. Though she never returned to teaching, she and Coral welcomed and lovingly raised 7 children. With a flair for design and color, Junadah worked for several decades as a design consultant at Sherwin-Williams Paints in Kerrville, retiring in 1990.
She had a passion for travel, sewing, and baking—especially her homemade bread, which was cherished by all who tasted it. At age 83, Junadah surprised many by joining Coral in the field at the family ranch in Junction, Texas, becoming quite the markswoman. The couple shared a deep love for the outdoors, spending countless hours hunting, boating, and exploring the country in their motorhome.
A faithful member of First Christian Church for 60 years, Junadah embodied grace, strength, and selflessness. Her unwavering hospitality and quiet wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She lived a life rooted in kindness and service to others, always putting the needs of those around her before her own.
Junadah is preceded in death by her husband, Coral Admire, and sons, Carl Admire and Terry Admire.
She is survived by her children, Rosetta Abrahams, Annetta and Don Anderson, Cathy and Bill Crittenden—all of Kerrville, Texas; Merle and Lisa Admire of Pipe Creek, Texas; and Mark Admire of Port Aransas, Texas. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Dolly Jean Moore of Vinland, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 12p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, Texas 78028. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.; interment will follow the service at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Junadah’s love and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
