Larry Douglas Johnson

Larry Douglas Johnson, born September 30, 1946, in Tulare, California passed away on July 10, 2026, at a care facility in Kerrville, Texas. Throughout his 79 years on this earth, Larry Johnson lived a life centered around the love of his family – he especially enjoyed travelling with his family, attending his son’s sporting events and competitions. He attended Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas, graduating in 1965. Shortly after, in 1966, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for six years before being honorably discharged. He reenlisted in 1975, serving for another seven years. After his time in the service, Larry kept himself busy not only as a long haul truck driver, but also as an airplane mechanic. Larry also worked in the security sector as a civilian contractor at Laughlin Air Force Base.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Lou Johnson (Baskett) and Herbert Lowery Johnson, and brother Johnny Ray Johnson. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Diane Elizabeth Johnson (Ray) with whom he shared 25 loving years.

Larry is survived by his brother, Dennis Paul Johnson (Donna Johnson) of Indian Land, SC; son, Monty Jack Johnson (Kimberly Ann Johnson) of Azle, TX; granddaughter Cindy Beth Holmes (Michael Holmes) of Kerrville, TX; grandson Colton McCaffrey Johnson of Leander, TX; granddaughter Macey Jaide Johnson of Comfort, TX; grandson Cason McRae Johnson of Center Point, TX; great-granddaughter Brenleigh Michelle Strickland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He often spoke highly of his family, talking about his grandchildren whenever he got the chance.
