Laura Burton

To her parents' delight, Laura Katherine Burton arrived a bit earlier than expected on December 18, 1998. To her brother's disappointment, he got a baby gril (sic) for a sibling, and oh, what a girl. Small and round, her perfect peanut form earned her a nickname she proudly owned. She was the Peanut, our ''my-do-it'' girl, our extraordinary child. Laura defies definition. So beautiful a soul cannot be captured with mere words. Instead, picture her. Picture Peanut on the river in her donut inner tube or kayak. Picture her crowd surfing above sweaty music revelers. Picture her binging on anime, appreciating the silly as well as the sophisticated characters and story arcs. Picture her playing guitar with her brother. Picture her modestly perched on a summit while her peers are base camping. Picture her creating, using her mind's eye and her hands to draw, write, knit, photograph, and to bake for the ones she loved. Picture her smile, and hear her laugh, cuss and speak up when her shy self had to tell it like it is. At last, picture this: On June 26 when she joined her brother, imagine him catching her. Imagine them together again, and if you listen closely before bedtime, you can hear them say, 'night, Jack.'' '''night, Peanut.'' ''Love you.''

A time for visitation and reflection will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 6 - 8 PM at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX.

A Celebration of Laura's Life will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 1, 2016 in the sanctuary of Kerrville First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville, TX 78028 with the Rev. Ryan Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at Nichols Cemetery, Kerrville, TX.
