On Sunday, July 4, 2021, Laura Wanda Wright Rogers went into the waiting arms of the Lord and to be with her husband that she loved dearly, at the age of 92.
Wanda was born on January 25,1929 in Grosvenor, TX to William and Lillie (Kinney) Wright. She received her Bachelor of Science in teaching degree from Abilene Christian College in 1949. She retired from her love of teaching in 1986 from Center Point Schools. She married Norman Rogers on December 27, 1957. He preceded her in death May 1972.
Wanda will be known for her love of the Lord, generous nature, thimbles, robust laughter, unconditional love to her family & friends, and sense of humor. Once asked about longevity she replied, “The Dead Sea was only sick when I was young.” A quote she carried in her wallet. She would give the shirt off her back and be happy to give all she had. Many have received her love of crocheting in the form of afghans and baby blankets. She lived a very simply life with the Lord as her focus.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers- L.J. Wright, Billy Don Wright, and Jack Norman Wright. Survived by two sisters- Nelva (Wright) and husband Jack Turner, and Karen (Wright) and husband Joe Kelly. She had no children but loved her numerous nephews and nieces as her own.
The family would like to thank her caregiver Karen Swider and friend Larry Lewis for seeing that Wanda was well taken care of.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Turtle Creek Community Cemetery, Kerrville, TX at 10:00 am.
