Leslie Benji Nerio, 90, entered into rest on April 26, 2026; he passed at Avir at Enchanted Rock in Fredericksburg.
Leslie was born August 9, 1935 in Honolulu, HI to parents, Jack Wakayama and Mildred Nerio Wakayama. In his distinguished career he served as a museum curator in Hawaii. He started as the assistant curator of the Oriental Department at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Then, he became curator at the John Young Museum of Art at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Leslie also held the office of President for the Society of Asian Art of Hawaii from 1989-1990 and again 2012-2013.
Leslie is survived by his brother, Jan Wakayama and his wife Janice of Honolulu; as well as many close friends that are dear to him.
Private family services will be held in Hawaii. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
