Lewis Lunn Raymer Jr. passed from this life on June 19, 2026 in Kerrville, TX surrounded by loved ones. Lewis was born in Wellsville, NY on December 20, 1930, the first child of Lewis Lunn Raymer Sr. and Harriett Fleming Raymer. With the advent of World War II, new work assignments for his father required the family, now including younger sister, Harriet Ann (Sissy), to move first to Cleveland, OH and then Houston, TX in 1943. At Milby High School in Houston, Lewis excelled in math and science and was a member of the golf team. During his school years in Houston he met Imogene Wright who was to become his wife and lifelong partner. Together they attended Rice University. 

At Rice, Lewis majored in electrical engineering, and received a B.A. in Electrical Engineering in 1954 and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. In 1955. His college work was delayed one year when he was called from the Marine Corp Reserve into active duty during the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea, Lewis married Imogene Wright on August 11, 1953, the love of his life who had graduated from Rice earlier that year. Imogene worked as a junior high school teacher while Lewis completed his degrees. 

Upon graduation Lewis began a 30 year career with Schlumberger Ltd., the leading provider of oilfield services. His career was rewarding, with opportunities to work in a variety of organizations and locations, including 3 years in South America. His career began as a field engineer responsible for a “logging” truck and its crew. Over time, in oilfield operations he progressed to Division Manger of the West Texas / New Mexico region. Schlumberger sent him to Harvard’s graduate Program for Management Development, which he completed in 1967. Over the years he also worked in various staff positions and spent 6 years in research and development (where he has the legacy of the Raymer-Hunt-Gardner Transform). He was an acknowledged expert in well log interpretation. Late in his career, this expertise led to an extended speaking tour in Asia and Australia where he gave presentations to local chapters of the SPWLA (Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts). For this trip he was able to bring Imogene, and aside from the presentations, they enjoyed it as a long vacation. 

Lewis loved playing golf and home improvement projects. He was constantly on the lookout for home improvement ideas. Most projects were modest, but in 3 locations he single-handedly built additions to his home: once a new master bedroom, once an additional child bedroom, and once a new dining room. His children have been recipients of many of his improvement projects as well as many other relatives and friends. 

Lewis was a strong supporter and provider for his family. He is survived by 3 children: Judith DeLuca of Gainesville, VA, Lewis G. Raymer of Tabernacle, NJ, and Kris Raymer of Delanco NJ; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. For many years he arranged a week-long vacation for his extended family that was an annual highlight for everyone. He created education funds for each of his grandchildren that covered most of their college education costs. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Imogene in 2019 after 65 years of marriage.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, June 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. It will be held in the main chapel at Kerrville Funeral Home; 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX.
