Lillian Ferguson

Lillian Mae "Di Dee" Ferguson peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2018 at a local care facility in Bandera, Texas under the care of Peterson Hospice.
Lillian was born on May 1, 1923 to Henry Soloman and Beulha Pearl (Bazor) Ferguson- the third of seven children.
After her early years in Oklahoma, the family moved to Pasadena, California where Lillian attended John Marshal Junior High through the 8th grade. The family returned to Oklahoma in 1940, where Lillian worked for the Oklahoma School for the blind. Later, during the war years Lillian worked at the Swift Company producing every war time GI's "favorite"- powdered eggs.
Upon the death of her mother in 1944, Lillian returned home to help raise her younger sister Jane. In 1952, Lillian moved to Washington State to help her older sister Euna in raising her five younger children working in two cafe's to supplement her income.
Returning to Bandera, Texas in 1972 Lillian was employed at the OST Café until being hired by the Bandera Independent School System, where she worked in the Food Service Department until her retirement in 1986.
Lillian loved dancing the Charleston, the jitterbug, country swing, playing dominoes and yahtze but her greatest love was her family.
Although Lillian never had children of her own she claimed all of her nieces and nephews as her own and was always interested in their activities and proud of their accomplishments.
Lillian had great stories from her life's journey. Some of her favorites to share were the Oklahoma Dust Bowl with the suffocating dust that entered everything, the Oklahoma Flood of October 1941 where the family had to get on the roof until being rescued and the Washington Stampede with the exciting "suicide" horse race and seeing Grace White, a professional Lady Trick Rider and Rodeo Bronco Rider.
Lillian became a member of the Bandera First Baptist Church upon her return to Texas, later attending the First Baptist Church in Kerrville after her retirement. In addition to church Lillian was an active life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Henry S. and Beulha P. Ferguson; siblings, Amelia Lue Ann Ferguson, Euna L. Dismuke Donaldson, Albert Dismuke, Henry S. Ferguson Jr., Edward Ferguson, Frances Jane Ferguson Dry; along with other family members and friends.
