Maria Elena Arredondo Salazar, 68, of Kerrville passed from this life on July 14, 2026 at her residence at the age of 68. She was born in Penjamo, Guanajuato, Mexico to parents Jose Arredondo and Maria Guadalupe Vargas. She grew up in San Pedrito before eventually moving to Kerrville, Texas.

Maria married her husband, Humberto Salazar, at Schreiner Park on May 11, 2013, and together they shared years of love and happiness. Maria is preceded in death by sons, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, brothers, and one sister.

Those left to honor her include her sons, Jose Alfredo Castaneda and Mario Arrendondo; daughter in law, Marcela Rangel; and her grandchildren, Jose Alfredo Castaneda Jr., Maria Guadalupe Castaneda, Benito Casteneda, and Antonio Castaneda.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30AM, Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Scott Janysek as celebrant; interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 7PM, Monday at Kerrville Funeral Home.
