Marvin John Irvin Gast

Marvin John Irvin Gast, 96, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at his residence.

Marv was born on June 4, 1929 in Michigan City, Indiana. He enlisted into the US Navy on March 11, 1949. After a stint in Korea and Guam during the Korean War conflict, he served out his enlistment contract in 1953. That same year he married his beloved sweetheart Margaret “Peg” C. Jonas. The two of them enjoyed 55 happy years of marriage together, being married on Peg’s birthday helped Marv remember two important dates. Marv, went on to work for Southwest Gas Corporation in Arizona retiring from there, and eventually moving to Kerrville, TX in 1997 with his family.

In life, Marvin was surrounded by love: daughter Sharon Madrid; grandsons Alan Weigel, Andrew Weigel (Courtney), Jonathon Miller (Chelsea) and granddaughter Jennifer Miller; six great-grandchildren Austin, Dylan, Bradley, Carson, Paisley, Liam; and nephews and nieces Doug Gast (Teri), Nancee, and John Gast (Jennifer). He is preceded in death by his Wife Peg, parents, Martin D. Gast and Sarah E. Rust, and daughter Cynthia Welch.

As a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Masonic brother, combat veteran, and friend, Marvin John Irvin Gast will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing his. His unwavering spirit and joyful outlook on life will forever be an inspiration to him family and all whose lives he touched.

The family is holding a Memorial Service on October 10, 2025 at 2pm in the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel at 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX 78028. Honors will be rendered by the US Navy and a Masonic Ceremony conducted by Kerrville Masonic Lodge #697, in addition to family and friend recollections.

In in lieu of flowers Marv requested that donations be made in his name to any Shriner's Children’s Hospital. These hospitals were near and dear to their hearts.
