Merrill Johnson

Merrill V. Johnson, 85, passed away at a hospital in San Antonio on Sunday, March 5, 2017. He was born on October 20, 1931 in Trenton, Missouri to Willis A. and Esta (Polly) Johnson.

Merrill married Barbara S. (Wade) Johnson on January 4, 1958 in Rock Falls, Illinois. He Served in the Navy during the Korean War serving aboard the
U.S.S. Barton. Merrill has been a resident of Texas since 1991, and was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Esta Johnson; sister, Garnet; brother, Lavern; and daughter, Becky.

Those left to honor and cherish his memories are his loving wife, Barbara Johnson; son, Kenneth Johnson; sister, Betty Veracini; grandchildren, Brook, Annie, Jacob; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Boston, Aceten; along with many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors who will miss him dearly.

Memorial services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, March 17, 2017 at the 16th Ave Church of Christ, 1902 16th Ave, Sterling, Illinois 61081.
Interment will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, 18268 Pennington Rd, Sterling, Illinois 61081.
