Pilar Lara

Pilar Lara, 75 of Kerrville, TX passed from this life on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at a local hospital.  She was born June 6, 1945 to parents, Victoriano Martinez and Malaquias Rico Martinez in Hondo, TX.  She grew up in Hondo, TX.  She married Jesse A Lara Sr. on August 11, 1986 in Kerrville, TX, together they lived in Kerrville for 45 years.  She worked in healthcare for numerous years and then was employed with Kerrville ISD where after 15 years of service she retired.

Pilar was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt and friend.  She enjoyed her garden and took such great care of her plants.  Pilar loved her dog Chiquita and spending time with her family and loved ones.  Her favorite past time was working on wordbooks and watching her many favorite television shows "In the Heat of the Night" and "Forensic Files."

She is preceded in death by her parents, Victoriano and Malaquias Martinez; husband, Jesse A Lara Sr.; brothers, Pedro Martinez Sr., Celestino Martinez and Marcelino Martinez; sister, Isidra Contreras and great granddaughter, Alina J DeLaCruz.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Jo Ann (Rick) Jaramillo of Evans, CO; Jackie (Chris) McMillon of Temple, TX; Becky (Gabriel) Chacon of Kerrville, TX and Kathy Lara of Kerrville, TX; sons, Rene Lira and Jesse Lara, Jr. both of Kerrville, TX; sisters, Mary Ybarra and Petra Duarte both of Kerrville, TX; 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery at 11AM on Friday, August 28,2020.
