Rachel Griffin

Rachel Coe Griffin, 80, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on December 10, 2019 at a hospital in San Antonio.

Rachel was born on January 23, 1939 to Waldo and Ann Bobbit Coe in Winston-Salem, NC. She grew up in Kerrville and graduated from Tivy High School in 1957. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Texas Women's University in 1961, and taught third grade in Altus, OK.

She married James ''Griff'' Griffin on June 23, 1966 in Altus, and spent the next 18 years travelling the country as an Air Force wife. They divorced in 1984, and Rachel furthered her education by receiving a master's degree in special education. She taught special ed. for twenty years at White Settlement ISD, and lived in Ft. Worth. After retirement, she returned to Kerrville to be close to family. Her hobbies included watching classic movies and crocheting blankets, hats, and scarves for family, friends, and charity.

Rachel is preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Coy LeMeilleur.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Shelly Shivers and husband Lowen of Ft. Worth; sister, Beth LeMeilleur; brother, Sam Coe and wife Mary; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Rev. Frankie Enloe officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
