Raelene Brocious

Raelene Besier Brocious, 82, of Kerrville, TX passed from this life on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at her residence. Raelene was born in Los Angeles, CA on May 23, 1934 to parents, Ray Edgar Schluter and Melba Beda (Schwab) Schluter.

The family lived for a time in Omaha, NE then settled in New Braunfels, TX when she was 15. At the young age of 19, she met her first husband, John Adolf Besier Jr., through their mutual enjoyment of playing guitars. They eloped to Laredo, TX and married on October 2, 1953. They settled in Houston where they started their family and she opened her own custom drapery shop. She was a talented professional in her line of work for 40 years.

After her first husband passed away in 1997, she retired to Kerrville, TX where she became very active in the community. Amongst her activities, she loved clowning as "Honey, the clown" with a volunteer group through the Dietert Center bringing laughter and love to those in hospitals and nursing homes. She especially appreciated the veterans she visited. She also enjoyed playing her guitar and singing with the DC Pickers, another volunteer group through the Dietert Center, who played and entertained for the residents and nursing homes. Along her journey she met Richard "Dick" Brocious and they enjoyed playing their guitars and singing together as well. They married on August 31, 2013 when he was 93 and she was 79.

She is dearly loved and will be missed. She was known for her gift of heartfelt sincere prayers, and would conclude her prayers with: "Lord, we thank you for life itself."

Those preceding her in death were her parents, and first husband; her sister, Melray "Sister" Schluter; and her brother, Raymond "Ray" Schluter.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her second husband, Richard "Dick" Brocious of Kerrville, TX; children, Johnny Ray Besier of Tomball, TX, David Lee Besier of Kerrville, TX, and Darlene Besier Munsey and husband Steven Munsey of Katy, TX; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters, Rae "Dolly" Harborth and Ellarae "Ellie" Lethlean; brother, Calray "Cal" Schluter, numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors who will all miss her dearly.
