Rafaela Cervantes Garza

Rafaela Garza, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 11, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 2, 1938, in Pandora, Texas, Rafaela's life was filled with love, dedication, and commitment to her family and career.

Rafela began her professional journey as a long-distance operator for the Kerrville Telephone Company in 1967. Her passion for her work soon led her to transfer to the KTC phone store, where she took on the vital role of keeping track of the rapidly growing digital subscriber line and excelling in sales of various telephone accessories, including caller ID units and answering machines. Rafaela's diligence and dedication of 35+ years did not go unnoticed as she made her mark in the world of telecommunications.

In October 1966, she married the love of her life, Ramiro Garza, in Kerrville. The couple enjoyed 52 beautiful years together before Ramiro's passing, raising a family that would become the center of Rafaela's life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Theresa Garza, as well as her grandson, Michael Ayala and his wife, Kandace; her granddaughter, Genevieve Moreno, and her husband, Philip; and two adored great-grandchildren, Vivienne and Savannah; sister, Helen Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Each of her family members held a special place in her heart, and she took immense pride in witnessing their accomplishments and joys.

Rafaela's legacy is marked not only by her contributions to her family but also by the immeasurable love she shared, particularly with her late husband, Ramiro, and her dear son, Raynaldo Ayala. The loss of her siblings—Victoria Ayala, Maria Garces, Juanita Klein, and Francisco Cervantes—along with her parents, Sotero and Jesusa Ozuna Cervantes, and her daughter-in-law, Deborah Copeland, left a deep imprint on her heart. Yet, the memories of those she loved remained a guiding light in her life.

Rafaela Garza’s spirit will continue to be felt through the lives she touched and the love she fostered. Her memory reminds us of the beauty found in family bonds and the strength of love that transcends time. A Rosary will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Both services will take place at 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX. On Tuesday, interment will follow at Garden of Memories. May her soul now rest in eternal peace, embraced by the arms of her loved ones who have gone before her.
