Ranelle L. Kiefer

On December 3, Ranelle Louise Viereck Kiefer, passed away at age 80 after a short illness. Ranelle was best known as Nick, Mama Nick, Gramma Nick, Mosa, and Lolli by those who loved her.  She was our matriarch, our Queen.  Nick grew up in Sealy, TX, graduated Sealy High School, married with four children and worked as a Court Clerk and in oil field sales, eventually migrating to California where she later met her husband, Dudley.  After working for many years as an executive assistant in a large medical group, Nick retired and returned to the Texas Hill Country where she continued her lifelong love of gardening, animals, and volunteering with: Boxer Rescue, Habitat For Horses, Hill Country SPCA, and Meals On Wheels. Humorously, those who loved her called her the Cat Lady.

Above all her life’s work, Nick fiercely loved her children the most: daughters, Kimberly Williamson and Chanda Viereck; sons, Kirk Williamson, and Christopher Williamson who predeceased her. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Dwight Viereck and his wife Gay; Dudley Kiefer, her husband of 36 years; grand-daughter, Nicole Mansfield; grandson, Trevor Mansfield and his wife Katheryn; grandsons, Trey and Layne Williamson; great-grandchildren, Wade Russell Mansfield and Madelyn Kate Mansfield; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a Celebration Of Life at the ranch on Saturday January 13, 2024, time/address TBA.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hill Country SPCA.

So many people loved the joy and spunkiness Nick brought into their lives and with her passing, we will forever cherish and hear her saying these words, “Love you more!”

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kerrville Funeral Home. (830) 895-5111
