Roger Lee Gras, 71 years old, lived in Kerrville Texas. On May 20, 2019 Roger left this earth and joined his Heavenly Father. He died after a short battle with cancer with his wife, Gaynie, by his side.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 24, 2019, at 2:00 pm in Lubbock, Texas at The Worship Center located at 12701 Indiana Ave. Pastor Ed Clark will officiate.

Roger was born and raised into a Christian home on January 17,1948 to Russell and Margaret Gras in Shreveport Louisiana. Roger graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1968. He worked over 40 years in various areas on various types of projects. He retired in March, 2012.

Roger lived the majority of his adult life in Lubbock, Texas with his first wife, Linda Carroll Wheeless. They married in 1968 and raised two sons, Jeffrey Thomas and Brian David. Brian David added a much-loved granddaughter, Aria Teagan. Linda passed from this life in the spring of 2008.

He married his second wife, Betty Gaynell ''Gaynie'' Taylor, on August 21, 2008 in Lubbock Texas and gained three loving daughters, Laura Gay, Libby Lea and Lacey Dione, along with three son in laws and 7 grandchildren. For 8 years they lived in Lubbock surrounded by their blended families. In 2016, they settled in Kerrville Texas where Roger and Gaynie built their dream home and lived out the rest of his days with their three beloved dogs. Roger was a self-taught botanist and naturalist; he had a passion for native plants and landscape and spent most of his time outside creating his version of paradise with his many cacti, succulents and native grasses. For many years he was an active member with the Native Plant and Gem and Mineral Society of Lubbock.

Roger is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gras; and his father and mother, Russel and Margaret Gras.

He is survived by his wife, Gaynie Gras of Kerrville Texas; two brothers, Daryl Gras and Doug (Suzie) Gras; two sons, Jeff Gras and Brian (Celeste) Gras; daughters, Laurie (Dewight) Shelton, Libby (Andy) Clark, and Lacey (Justin) Wollenburg; grandchildren, Aria Gras, Dione Pompa (Travis Johnson), Jared (Taylor) Shelton, Audrey and Haidn Clark, Jacey and Jordn Shelton, and Taylor and Lyla Wollenburg; great grandson, Kasen Brooks Shelton; and great granddaughter due in September, Lillith Rose Johnson-Pompa; brother in law, Bobby (Pat) Patterson; and various nieces and nephews.

He was beloved by all who knew him.

The family requests no flowers be sent but instead donations to the charity or church of your choice or the Wounded Warriors Project in Roger's Honor.
