Ronald Ernest Punkar, 85, of Kerrville, Texas, passed from this life on December 16, 2018 in Kerrville. Ronald was born on July 29, 1933 to John Punkar and Martha Moisio in Conneaut, Ohio. Ronald was raised in Conneaut and attended and graduated from Rowe School. He also was a graduate with a BFA Degree in Architectural Design from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Ron married his high school sweetheart Kay Ann on February 26, 1956.

He was employed by Allied Resins, a pioneer in compounding of recycled plastic. He left 25 years later after serving 10 years as plant manager. He then joined Permian Research in Texas as a research engineer where he developed new technologies for the production of plastic products. Ronald was then hired by Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies (AERT) as vice president of operations to develop and manufacture a wood composite choice deck to be distributed nationally. He retired in 1996 but continued to provide consulting services in the development and manufacturing of wood alternates.

His membership and affiliations included City Council in Conneaut, Ohio, Board Member Brown Memorial Hospital, board member of Kent State University, Delta Tau Delta, Jaycees, Elks, Rotary, Society Plastic Engineer (Past President), Society of Plastic industry (Texas Chapter), a member of First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, Texas, Equity Member RHCC 1989/2003 and a member of APOR.

His favorite pastime and hobbies included, golf, residential design, wood working, repairing antique furniture and in general just helping others

Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Ann Redding Punkar; parents, John and Martha Punkar and brother Duane Punkar.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory are daughter; Terri Thomas her son Eric, Son; Scott Punkar, his son and daughter Jay and Kari all of the Bay area of California, brother, Allan Punkar of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 PM on Saturday February 9, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive Kerrville, Texas.
