Sylvia Juarez Morriss, 79, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026. She was born and raised in Kerrville, Texas, a place she proudly called home for 77 years. In 2023, Sylvia moved to San Antonio to be closer to her daughter, Missy, who lovingly served as her primary caretaker.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Hal Morriss III. She leaves behind her three children, Missy Rael, Christy Morriss, and Bobby Morriss. She was a devoted grandmother to Amanda Rael-Garcia (and her husband, Christian Garcia), Kambry Rhyse Rael, Raegan Ryan, Samantha Cella, Hal Hunter Morriss, and Brandon Cella, and a cherished great-grandmother to one great-grandson.
Sylvia was especially proud of her more than 40 years working in food service for Kerrville Independent School District, where she was a Texas-certified food handler and a familiar, friendly face to generations of students.
Her greatest joy in life was caring for and spending time with her grandchildren. Sylvia also loved going out to eat, striking up conversations, and making new friends wherever she went—something that came naturally to her. She had a rare gift for making people laugh and feel instantly at ease.
Warm, witty, generous, independent, and strong, Sylvia will be remembered for her humor, her heart, and her unwavering love for her family.
A vistitation will be held on January 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Kerrville Funeral Home, located at 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Sylvia’s memory.
