Velma Jean Skinner passed from this life on November 2, 2018.

Jean was born October 29th, 1927 in Port Arthur, Texas, daughter to Cordie and Lewis Reeves. She had an older brother, Doug, and a younger sister, Mary Ann Battershell. She was married to William Ross Skinner, a chemical engineer at DuPont and Lt. J. G. in the Navy, for almost 40 years who was deceased on June 30, 1992. She has two married daughters, Lynn and Suzanne, one granddaughter, Sundara, and a great grandson, Presley.
Musically inclined, Jean sang on the radio at 5 ½ years and took piano lessons from age 8 - 16. She also studied voice for 5 years and gradually moved into singing opera. Jean attended Lamar University and Julliard School of Music in New York City to continue her studies in music. She belonged to the Symphony Club in Port Arthur for years where she served as an officer and performed classical piano and sang at Symphony Club events. Jean also taught piano lessons to her students at her home in Port Arthur.

Jean and Ross traveled quite extensively all over Europe and took their children with them on an earlier trip. They also traveled to the Caribbean, Greece, Hawaii and all over the US. Working for DuPont, Ross was transferred on several occasions from Port Arthur to Wilmington, DE and Orange, TX and after Ross retired from DuPont, they moved and built a house in Hunt, Texas subsequently moving to River Hills in Kerrville in 1991.
Growing up Baptist, Jean attended church all her life, taught children's and adult Sunday School, sang in the choir and loves the Lord. Living in Hunt, she and Ross attended First Baptist Church in Ingram and after moving to Kerrville, Jean became a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
