Vivian J. Davis, 96, of Kerrville, passed from this life on April 13, 2024 at a local care facility.

Vivian was born June 12, 1927 to Victor and Lena Smith Brand in Pleasant Valley, New York where she attended school and graduated from Arlington High School.  She met David Davis in New York City and they were married on November 24, 1945 in Pleasant Valley. They lived in North Carolina, Florida, Corpus Christi, then moved to Kerrville in 1976.  Throughout her career, Vivian worked as a secretary/stenographer; she worked at the Kerrville VA Hospital.  She was very active with the Turtle Creek Volunteer Fire Department.   Her favorite hobby was going to the casinos, but she was also an archer who placed 3rd in 1968 Texas State Archery, and very musically talented playing the Dobro and singing. Vivian loved to travel, was an excellent cook, and talented at figuring crossword puzzles.  She was proud to have qualified for the show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”. In 1972, when Vivian was employed at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, she was awarded ARADMAC’s outstanding woman employee “Woman of The Year”.

Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, David Davis; grandson, David Campbell; and brother, Thorne Johnson.

Those left to honor her memory include her sister, Marcia and husband Remo of Valdetta, NY; daughter, Pamela Smith and husband Colin; son, Steve Davis and wife Wanda; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Turtle Creek Cemetery with Pastor Keith Shelley officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
