Willa Dorsett

Willa Jeanette Dorsett, 84, of Kerrville, Texas was called home on June 22, 2018.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Willa Jeanette Dorsett was born in Ballinger, Texas on October 26, 1933, to Willis and Sally Sparks. Jeanette was the eldest of three children, frequently helping with her baby brothers Joe Dale and Clifton Dwayne. Jeanette grew up in Ballinger where she graduated from Ballinger High School. She married Aaron Stephens in 1949 with whom she had two children, Aaron Paul and Judy Lynn. In 1953, she graduated from Life Bible College in Los Angeles. Aaron and Jeanette were married 19 years.
After the early death of her first husband, Jeanette was married to Lester Wayne Scantlin of Kerrville for 19 years. Sadly, Wayne also left us too soon. She continued to be a long-time resident of Kerrville and at the time of her passing, Jeanette was married to her devoted and loving husband of 23 years, BJ Dorsett.

Jeanette was always God's good and faithful servant. At the age of six she demonstrated life-changing faith, which convinced her father to become a Christian Minister. One act of faith in a small kitchen led to hundreds hearing the message of Christ. She did not stop there. Jeanette was funny, thoughtful, and full of that faith as she lovingly ministered to generations throughout her life.

The fundamental truth about Jeanette is that she embodied the very definition of love as set forth in 1st Corinthians. She was patient and kind. She did not envy, did not boast, and was not proud. Jeanette did not dishonor others, and was not self-seeking, or easily angered. She kept no record of wrongs. Jeanette did not delight in evil but rejoiced with the truth. She always protected, always trusted, always hoped, and always persevered.

The treasure of Jeanette's memory will continue to inspire us. Because of her resilience, class, and dignity she was the epitome of a genteel lady, regardless of the circumstances. She was so smart, adventurous, and fun. She conducted herself so that everyone around her felt special. She was an inspiring daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. We will remember all she taught to us and all she shared with us, and we will make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at Peterson Regional Medical Center for their tender care and encouragement.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Joe Dale, husband Aaron Stephens of Kerrville, and husband Lester Wayne Scantlin of Kerrville.
