William Duplisea

CENTER POINT William Bill Arthur Duplisea, 93, died peacefully on November 5, 2014, at his home in Center Point, Texas.

Bill was born on May 18, 1921, in Gray, Maine, the only child of Arthur and Madge Dunbar Duplisea. He graduated high school in Gray from Pennell Institute prior to joining the Air Force where he served as an airplane mechanic in Holland and England during World War II. Upon returning, he attended the University of Maine at Orono, graduating with a degree in Engineering Physics. While attending UMO, he met Barbara Ann Foster, whom he married the day after graduation in 1951 in Hampden, Maine.

They then moved to Rochester, New York, and later to Fort Collins, CO, where he worked for Eastman Kodak until his retirement. After five years of traveling in their motorhome, they settled in Center Point, Texas, in 1992 where they remained until his death.

Bill was a master craftsman whose woodworking designs will be forever cherished and appreciated in the homes of his family. His passion for travel and photography took him across the United States and Canada where he shared his love of the Red Rock Country in Utah, as well as the National Parks, especially Big Bend National Park, extensively hiking and exploring in his Jeep with Barbara, family, and friends. He cherished the many people with whom he forged friendships, especially during his retirement years. Bill was an accomplished accordion player both in Maine growing up and in Europe during the war. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in New Gloucester, Maine.

After 63 years of marriage, he is survived by his loving wife Barbara their children of whom he was extremely proud, Richard of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Karen Jeff Stickney of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, Pamela Duane Schweigert of Kinnear, Wyoming, Paula Bill Griffith of Loveland, Colorado and his grandchildren Laura Cody Thomas of Scottsdale, AZ, Nicole Ryan Bolton, Jonathan Stickney, Brianna Stickney, Jeremy Stickney all of Ontario, Canada, and Sean Griffith of Loveland, Colorado.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Madge Duplisea and many dear friends.

The family is extremely grateful to Peterson Hospice, Dr. James Young and Dr. Rebecca Barrington for their help, care, and compassion throughout the years and would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice nurse Lisa Davis for her dedication and loving care to Bill and his family as he took his final journey.

According to his wishes, his cremated remains will be scattered next summer in Wyoming where he spent many summers in the mountains with his daughter Pam, soninlaw Duane, and granddaughter Laura.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, Texas, or to the charity of ones choice.
