Obituary

William Spencer Hart, Sr., passed away on June 28, 2026, at the age of 77.
He was born on May 28, 1949 in Kerrville, Texas, to James (Jinx) Hart, Jr. and Dawn Hart. Spencer was raised in Kerrville, where he graduated from Tivy High School in 1967. He went on to pursue higher education at Southern Methodist University, earning both his undergraduate degree and his law degree.
Spencer settled in Houston where he practiced law for over 30 years, raising his two sons, Bill and Andy, with his first wife, Leslie.
Spencer was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and teaching others to enjoy the beauty nature has given us.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jinx and Dawn Hart; his son, Andy Hart; step-son, Charles Short; and step-daughter Melissa Short.
Spencer is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mary Ann Hart; his son, Bill Hart Jr. and his wife Kristin; grandkids, Jacob & Ellie Hart of Liberty Hill, TX, and grandkids, Paige Short and Payton Short of Alice, TX; sister, Nancy Hood of Kerrville; brother, Jim & Glenda Hart of Kerrville; nieces, Lisa Hopson (Jonas) and Jennifer VanNostrand of Kerrville; and numerous cousins and extended family.
A service to honor Spencer’s life will be held at the Kerrville Funeral Home 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 with Pastor Bill Harris officiating.  Interment will follow at the Peril Family Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 5-6:00 PM, Wednesday at Kerrville Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hill Country Youth Ranch, PO Box 67, Ingram, TX 78025 or a charity of your choice.
