William Laing


William E. Laing, 87, of Kerrville, TX passed from this life on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at his home. Born on July 17, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of William John and Clara Borchert Laing.

Growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was later drafted into the United States Army in 1945. After service to his country he attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and graduated with a degree in Geophysics. He met the love of his life, Laura Miller, and they married on November 27, 1954 in North Brunswick, NJ.

William worked for Conoco for 35 years, attaining the position of Director of Geophysics for North and South America. His career afforded him the opportunity for extensive travel worldwide. He was awarded a Life Membership to the Society of Exploration Geophysicists and was selected as a Distinguished Lecturer, while also a life member of the International Association of Geophysical Contractors.

William was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife along with four children and one soninlaw.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Kerrville, Texas.

The family has requested that memorial donations be forwarded to The American Diabetes Association, The Riverside Nature Center, the Salvation Army, the Hill Country Youth Ranch, or to the charity of ones choice.
