William Joseph Porter, 76 of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Methodist TexSan Hospital in San Antonio, TX.
Mr. Porter was born May 9, 1935 in Lowell, Massachusetts the son of Franklin and Esther ODowd Porter. He graduated from Wakefield High School in 1953 and served with the U.S. Coast Guard. During his tour of active duty, he served in the volunteer expedition to the Antarctic at the initial stages of the International Geophysical Year under the supervision of the late Rear Admiral Byrd.
Mr. Porter married Jackie Kehoe on June 15, 1957 in Greenwood, Massachusetts and taught high school computer science and math both in Houston, TX and Kerrville, TX. He loved to play the piano, golf and work at the Take It Easy R.V. Park in Kerrville.
Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Jackie of Kerrville, TX two sons, Brad Porter and his wife, Laarni of Germany, David Porter of Angleton, TX one daughter, Wendy Lynn and her husband, Richard of Houston, TX one brother, John Porter and his wife, Virginia of Annapolis, Maryland one sister, Joyce Patch of Wakefield, Massachusetts and four grandchildren.
The family will have a private Celebration of Life Service and a private interment.
