Wyvonna (Von) Ordener passed away on Sunday, July 26 in Kerrville, Texas at the age of 98. She was born on July 15th, 1928 in Novice, Texas to Flora and Tumie Weddle. Von married Frank Sowell in 1945 together they had five children, Melton, Donna and Doyle (twins), Dean, and Jimmy. The family moved to Midland, Texas in 1957. Von went to work for the Midland Police Department and after 25 years of dedicated service, she retired.
Prior to her retirement, she met and Married Frank Ordener in 1976. They moved to Kerrville in 2011 to be closer to her daughter. They became members of The First Baptist Church of Kerrville. Von was a talented seamstress who lovingly made all of her daughter's dresses while she was growing up. There seemed to be nothing she couldn’t create with her sewing machine, and her skill and creativity were evident in everything she made. After retiring, she enjoyed spending her time pursuing the activities she loved most, including playing the slot machines at the casinos, attending bingo games at the VFW, and browsing estate sales. She also had a love of mystery novels and looked forward to completing the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could keep everyone in stitches as she shared stories of her many adventures over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, sons, Doyle Sowell and Jimmy Sowell, and her husbands, Frank Sowell and Frank Ordener. She is survived by her son Mel Sowell and his wife, Treva of Quitman, Tx, her daughter Donna Graham and her husband Andy of Kerrville, Tx, her son Dean Sowell and his wife Rebel of Norman, OK, her step daughter Janene Bostwick Nichols of Katy, Tx. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren. Chad Gayle, Natalie Millette, Clint Gayle, Bret Sowell, Elliot Sowell, Morgan Sowell, Miranda Sowell, Samantha Lopez, Adria Sowell, Jodi Sowell, Jay Bostwick and Bryan Bostwick and 11 great grandchildren, Justin Millette, Allison Millette, Emma Millette, Hope Fryling, Jack Gayle, Kiersten McKenzie, Katherine Hathcock, Amber Jimenez, Dylan Gayle, Tristan Gayle, Jadie Sowell and two great great grandchildren, Juniper Millette and Hudson Jimenez.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
