Ellen “Maxine” Trotter, of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at home surrounded by her three daughters and adoring dog Muffin.
Maxine was born May 18, 1930 in Kenedy, Texas to Belle and Mac McKinnon. Maxine married the love of her life, Ralph Trotter, on April 25, 1950. They were married for 65 years until his passing in 2015.
Their romance began on a ship bound for South America. After a brief flirtation on board, Ralph asked “the prettiest woman he had ever seen” on a first date to dinner and dancing in Havana, Cuba.
After two years of intense correspondence, Ralph and Maxine eloped at a wedding chapel in Houston. Their journey brought them from Houston to Rockport and finally the Hill Country.
Maxine had a passion for nature, reading and cooking. She was devoted to her family and her dogs. Maxine was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by daughter Laura Naman and husband Robert of Kerrville, daughter Cathy Lovett and husband Philip Reina of Houston, daughter Kelly Willcox and husband Fred of Houston, granddaughter Bonnie Lovett of Houston, granddaughter Melanie Naman and husband Alan Yamamoto of Sunnyvale, CA, and granddaughter Sarah Sandling and family of Austin.
