Obituary

Monty Charles Moentnish was a beloved son born to Charles and Mary Ann Moentnish in Oklahoma City on October 8, 1949. He passed on to be with God February 17, 2021. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, and took classes in Uvalde. Monty moved to Kerrville in the early 1980s to open a fire safety business, and later in life greatly enjoyed working for a home remodeling company. He was free-spirited and loved his cowboy years riding bulls, and even won belt buckles! He enjoyed walks in the park, trips motorcycling along the “Three Twisted Sisters” roads, and surfing with his friends. Monty had a tender heart and served others with great love, and truly enjoyed feeding and watching the colorful birds and deer around his home. Finding arrowheads, and reading history and mystery novels brought him enjoyment, but his greatest joy was being with his daughter, granddaughters, family, and all his “buddies.”

Monty was a good father, and loved laughing and teasing his family and friends with his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed going to the rivers and spending time with his beloved daughter Alyssa, and adored his precious granddaughters Nivea and Cataleya with whom he painted pictures, colored, and played Nerf guns. He simply enjoyed being with them. He loved life in general, and will be greatly missed. He is forever in our hearts, and he would say to all, “Rock and Roll.”

He is survived by his daughter Alyssa Ellis, granddaughters Nivea Sandoval and Cataleya Hernandez; sisters Lindacarol Dunne and Connie Dunscomb (Rick); niece Melody Dunne, and nephew Justin Dunscomb (Becky) and their children Jack, Katie, and Megan; and his extended family, Dianne Moentnish, Courtney and Henry Hargis; Pamela Glyckherr (Gary), Emily and Megan. Monty was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew Seth Dunscomb.

Monty’s family gives glory to God for his life and prays that each person who knew and loved Monty will experience God’s grace and peace as we each grieve and celebrate his life. There will not be a memorial service; please honor Monty by living abundantly with hope, and if you choose, contributing to your favorite charity. Monty’s family prays these verses of hope and life comfort you and strengthen your faith in this time and always: Psalm 23, John 3:16-17, John 15, Revelation 21: 3-4.
