William Jordan

William "Bill" Jordan, 78, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on October 25, 2026. Throughout his recent health challenges, he demonstrated the strength, determination, and resilience that defined his life.

Born on January 11, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas, Bill was the son of the late Omer and Dorothy Lee Jordan, and grew up with a passion for playing sports that would shape both his career and his life's purpose.

After graduating from Amarillo High School, where he played basketball, Bill, known by many as "Coach" dedicated much of his life to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring young athletes. Through his wisdom, memorable storytelling, and perseverance, he touched the lives of countless students, players, colleagues, and friends.

Coaching was not only his profession but also the source of many of his deepest friendships and greatest joys. During his more than 30-year coaching career in Midland, he taught far more than the fundamentals of the game. He used sports to teach resilience, teamwork, integrity, and grit in the young people he mentored. Whether helping lead teams to success or taking the time to encourage struggling players after practice, Coach left a lasting impact on everyone who stepped onto the field or court.

While athletics played a defining role in his professional life, nothing mattered more to Bill than his family. He was a devoted husband of 47 years to Beth Jordan, and a proud, loving father to Brittany and Bonnie. Some of Bill's happiest moments were spent celebrating holidays with his grandkids and attending annual Jordan family reunions with his family. He also treasured the companionship and unconditional love of his dogs. He was preceded in death by his faithful companion, Lucy, and survived by his puppy, Kadee. Bill never met a stranger and especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle through the Texas Hill Country on Sundays with his friends.

Bill's legacy of lifelong learning, always striving to do his best and helping others to do their best, will live on in those who had the privilege of knowing him. His passion was evident in every interaction and in every lesson he shared. Bill's presence will be sorely missed, especially his incredible gift of telling a story.

Bill is survived by his wife, Beth Jordan; two daughters, Brittany Payne and Bonnie Dunk; brother, Jorge Jordan; and sons-in-law, Colby Payne and Cameron Dunk. He is also survived by five grandchildren who were among his greatest blessings: Carson Dunk, Lily Payne, Ella Dunk, Colton Payne, and Cannon Dunk.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Dorthey Lee Jordan; brothers, Phil and John Jordan; and sister, Judy Borchardt.

A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Kerrville Funeral Home: 1221 Junction Hwy, Kerrville, TX 78028. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring his memory.

John Wooden, one of Bill's favorite coaches of all time, shared a philosophy that perfectly reflects how Bill lived his life:

Just try to be the best you can be; never cease trying to be the best you can be. That's in your power.
